The current cost a private eye examination is £40 and includes OCT scans of and imaging of your eyes.
We recommend that NHS patients have OCT scans and imaging for a detailed view of their eyes. These are not paid for by the NHS and as such a private fee of £15 is charged for this.

- you are under 16
- you are 16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education
- you are eligible for an NHS complex lens voucher – your optician can advise you about your entitlement

- you get Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- you get Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
- you get Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- you get tax credits and meet the criteria
- you get Universal Credit and meet the criteria
- you have a low income and are named on a valid NHS HC2 certificate for full help with health costs
